The most common of all skin conditions, affects the face, shoulders, back and chest. A sebaceous gland, which supplies sebum to lubricate the skin, becomes blocked at its opening on the surface and the blockage hardens.

The gland may become infected and sebum and pus may build up behind the blockage. In mild cases there may be only blackheads and small pimple, but in more severe cases these may occurs around puberty and can cause great distress at an age when personal appearance is very important.

The number of spots and pimples vary from week to week are often more numerous in women just before a menstrual period. It may be many years before the spots completely disappear, but usually the infection clears by the early twenties.

Wash regularly with medicated soap or detergent lotion and hot water. This will help by removing layers of oils which block the skin pores, and also by disinfecting the skin. Proprietary lotions and drying creams will often help, but the instruction on the container must be followed.

Do make sure your skin gets as much sunlight as possible. An ultraviolet lamp is less effective than sun, but helps in winter. You can ask doctor about buying and using lamp.

Eating habits should have changed and find out by experimenting with your if chocolate, nuts, sweets or fats make your spots worse. If they do, do not eat them. Keep to a balanced with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Do not use oily or greasy cosmetics to hide your spots. If you have use cosmetic choose non-greasy ones. Do not wear your hair in a fringe. falling on to your forehead or face can increase the number of spots. Wash your hair regularly and keep it reasonable short.

Please do not squeeze or pick at spots. They will become larger and inflamed, and scarring is more likely. Single, large, unsightly blackheads may be removed with a blackhead extractor after first washing the skin.
