Weight Loss Gimmicks - Watch Out For Fake Diets
March 1st, 2008 by admin | Filed under Uncategorized. Our society is stuck on the quick fix to losing weight. Everything must happen right now, quick fix is what everyone wants. I am also guilty of wanting everything “right now.” For a long time I was over-weight and was not at all aware of the huge toll it was taking on my body, physically and mentally. Luckily I realized this early enough and didn’t have any irreversible problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol etc. These are all caused from unhealthy lifestyles, like the one I was leading.
The first thing I did when aware that something had to change in the way I was treating my body, I started looking into the newest ways to lose weight quickly, of course. Naturally diet pills appealed to me because that would be the easiest fix to my weight problem. I discovered very quickly that these were very bad on my body and mind and would not be a permanent fix to my problem. I felt agitated and edgy on most of them and who wants to take diet pills the rest of there lives to stay thin? The statistics show once your off the pills the weight comes right back.
Secondly, I started researching fad diets. Some of these include limiting yourself to one food group, which does work for a quick fix, but studies show you gain back double the weight after going back to your normal eating patterns. When you deprive your body of the things it likes eventually you will binge, I had to find this out the hard way. Another popular diet is the eating every hour diet. There are also pros and cons about this fad diet making me doubt if I’d ever accomplish my goal of healthy living.
In conclusion, I decided to try my own plan and not diet at all but to change the lifestyle choices I made and adding fruits and vegetables to my diet. I also added exercising to my daily routine, even though I don’t have a lot of time in my days I still take the stairs instead of the elevator and walk to the bank to do my deposit instead of driving. These seem like small changes but they add up and you will see permanent results. I started this change a little over two years ago and have lost 43 pounds and kept it off for over two years now. So, don’t diet, change your thinking and start being healthy today, you will feel 200 times better.
