You Don’t Have to Be a Member of a Gym to Weight Train
July 14th, 2010 by admin | Filed under Uncategorized. My opinion has always been that the local gym is an annoying place. This is due to a number of factors, one of which is finding the time to go, then when you actual get time to go you have to keep it up as you mostly have to pay membership up front monthly or yearly, and you end up spending money on something you are not using, and that is certainly not benefiting you.
Maybe its because you want to bulk up for next summer, or pack on the power in order to improve in your chosen sport, or for a lot of men they seem to take up weight training to improve their physical appearance, as the training, if done correctly and for along enough period of time can develop substantial and noticeable muscles. Weight training also has many other advantages these include greater muscular strength, tone and appearance, increased endurance, enhanced bone density, and when performed properly and at sufficient intensity, weight training provides an excellent stimulus to the cardiovascular system.
For whatever reason you are wanting to get into weight training you don’t have to be a member of a gym you can accomplish virtually any muscle building routines in the seclusion of your own home. I am talking about the multitude of workout machines on the market these days. Just take your pick from the varying size, capability and price that are on offer. Two main things to consider are do you want to do machine weights or free weights a lot will depend on the money you have to spend and the room that is available to you. If the right routine is selected a entire weight-training workout can be performed with a pair of free weights called dumbbells and bar bells.
There are lots of weight machines existing on the high street now days and they are coming down in price all the time they range from exercise specific weight machines such as the leg press to multi home gym. The benefit of the multi gym is that it allows you to gain a varied choice of exercises working your whole body; giving you maximum benefits centred around one machine. Many of the multi gyms on offer are capable of providing up to 30 different strength exercise ranging from lat pull down, pec dec, leg extension, to 11-position press arm, with up to 100kg resistance, and can be achieved at the pull of a pin. If you have not got enough room or the budget for a multi gym then a set of free weights and a work out bench is the other alternative. These do not constrain the user to specific, fixed movements, and therefore require more effort.
Most bodybuilders and serious fitness enthusiasts prefer to use the free weight style for training purposes. Whether it’s the multi gym or the free weight routines or a combination of both you choose, one thing is that you have to get into the habit of exercising which you can find hard to start of with. Weight training has been dated back to at least ancient Greece, and even then I should think the hardest part of this was getting into a schedule, maybe one way to help is if you don’t want to join a gym is to get a training partner, say a mate and spur each other on, you will find that when one does not want to carry on the other will be able to encourage and get you both through the first couple of months, a bit like your mum nagging at you to eat your vegetables when you were younger.
Diet also plays a strong part in weight training as if you don’t eat right, you wont get fit and wont get the physique you desire. The right eating plan is to eat healthily to fuel the workouts and burn at least the calories you consume. This combined with the right weight training plan to suit you, as every one is different should result in you looking and feeling a lot fitter, all from the comfort of your home. Leave the money you would have spent on gym membership to treat yourself as all work and no play takes the fun out of life.
