Non-Invasive Options to Lipo

March 5th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Most people skip over the fact that any type of surgery is invasive, including plastic surgery. If invasive surgery concerns you, there are non-invasive options to lipo.

Non-Invasive Options to Lipo

Plastic surgery has become very popular in the last 30 years or so, and more and more you see items in the news and specials on TV regarding the benefits of having done. One of the most popular surgeries performed by plastic surgeons is liposuction, which removes unwanted fat from areas of your body. You might be tempted by what seems to be an easy way to , but there are options available to you.

Two of the most important options are dieting and exercise. No doubt that statement just met with a groan, but it should not. You should try eating right and using targeted exercise to rid yourself of your problem areas. The human body does not have the ability to rid itself of fat selectively, but the overall impact of exercise and on your body can be seen fairly quickly. Diet will also help to create an atmosphere within your body that is conducive to losing weight, and therefore, losing fat. Muscle gain, in particular, will speed up your metabolism, which burns more calories through the day.

Diet pills, which hope to promote your body’s own weight loss abilities can be effective in some cases as well. It’s important to note, however, that drugs with “lipo” in the name will not work on targeted areas the way that the procedure does. Remember, many solutions on the market have not been approved by the FDA.

Other options include spa treatments such as seaweed wraps and “cellulite massages”, which promise to help break up fat cells and remove them from your body. Unfortunately, most of these techniques are not proven to work, and if they do show some ability to make your body look better, it is short-lived. Doctors are also working on a theory that ultrasound waves can break up the fat cells under your skin, and then your body will be able to reabsorb the cells within three weeks. Doctors who are working with the ultrasound option believe that they will be far less damaging to the tissues in the body than invasive procedures. This, obviously, would represent a medical revolution and be very popular with many of us.

Many people pay lip service to the fact that any surgical procedure, including liposuction, is invasive. You should seriously consider the fact that any surgery carries risks. If that scares you, and exercise are probably the way to go.

Rhinoplasty: What Is It? What Does It Involve?

January 19th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Rhinoplasty is of the nose. The appearance of the nose is determined by its cartilage and bone. Rhinoplasty is the process of altering the size and position of this bone and cartilage. Before seeking advice from a plastic surgeon, it is a good idea to look carefully at your nose, and decide which aspects of it you would like to be changed.

Common complaints of nose size and shape are:

a hump along the bridge of the nose
a bulbous round tip
it is too large
it is too long
it is too wide
it is too droopy

Many surgeons consider Rhinoplasty to be the most complicated facial surgery procedure. It is also perhaps the most noticeable change you can make to a person - being in the middle of the face. This is particularly evident in cases where Rhinoplasty has been disappointing.

On any singular Rhinoplasty, a skilled plastic surgeon is likely to employ tens, or even more, of surgical techniques to achieve the desired result. If you have had a bad ‘nose job’, you may still be able to have the appearance of your nose improved. It is imperative that you find a skilled expert, however, to correct the faults.

Correcting a bad Rhinoplasty is far more complex than the first operation. It is not advisable to return to the same surgeon. You should investigate reputable plastic surgeons, who can supply an exhaustive portfolio of successful work.

Prior to getting nose surgery, there are some things to note:

Do not take blood-thinning agents (such as aspirin)
Do not expose your nose to sun
Do not wear perfume
Wear loose clothing that is easy to put on and remove

After Surgery

There is likely to be some swelling, and this may make breathing more difficult than normal. This is common, but try to sniff rather than blow your nose, as this is harsher on the tissues and will prolong the healing process. A humidifier at night and a cup of water to hand can make sleeping easier for the first few nights after Rhinoplasty.

Cosmetic Surgery Facelifts - Balancing the Benefits with the Risks

January 13th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Professional organizations remind patients that is surgery, and carries the same risks as any other medical intervention. Complications may include hematoma, temporary or longer-lasting injury to the nerves that control facial muscles, infection, or adverse reaction to anesthesia.

Eyelid surgery can correct for drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes. The surgeon removes the excess fat and muscle from below the skin, as well as removing any excess skin. The surgery usually takes one to three hours, and is usually carried out on an outpatient basis. Generally, patients can be back to work in a week to ten days.

Laser facial resurfacing is a way by which the surgeon can use a carbon dioxide laser device to smooth away fine wrinkles on the face. The surgeon can use the same laser to soften lines around the eyes and mouth, and minimize facial and unevenly pigmented areas. Usually, the procedure takes only a few minutes to an hour, and is carried out on an outpatient basis. Most patients are back to work in two weeks.

Face lifts are perhaps the most individualized of procedures. The surgeon evaluates the patients face, including skin and underlying bones. It’s particularly important that the doctor have a clear understanding of the patient’s goals for the surgery. In general, face lifts are performed on an out patient basis. The surgery itself will take several hours. Most patients are back to work ten to fourteen days after the surgery.

How to Afford Liposuction

October 18th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Liposuction is usually an elective procedure, which means it is not generally covered by insurance policies.

Liposuction is a wonderful solution for both men and women who have areas of fat on their body that are resistant to and exercise. Liposuction is not a weight loss solution, however, and should be used to contour the body, not .

Also, when choosing whether or not to have a liposuction, it is important to choose a surgeon and facility based on credentials, experience, and results, rather than price. All too often, people choose the cheapest plastic surgeon to perform their liposuction, and unfortunately many times, you see it in the results.

Be wary of plastic surgeons offering unbelievably low prices for liposuction, as it may reflect on the quality of liposuction you receive. Also, look out for plastic surgeons offering very cheap deals on liposuction for committing to the procedure that day.

Liposuction is a very personal decision, and the procedure varies from person to person. The cost of your liposuction can vary depending on the amount of fat being removed and the number of different places being treated.

The best way to determine how you are going to finance your liposuction procedure is to schedule an initial consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon.
