Effective Ingredients In Anti Wrinkle Cream

June 4th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

When it comes to evaluating an anti wrinkle cream some types have more credibility than others. This is because these anti wrinkle formulations have been proven to produce a change that can be visually noticed after using them over a period of time. In order for an anti aging skin cream to be effective make sure the label contains at least one of the following ingredients described in fuller detail below.

Antioxidants are more than just the latest trend when it comes to the ideal anti wrinkle cream. These nutrients are substances derived from natural food sources that defend our body against the ravages of free radicals. Free radicals mutate skin cells and are the result of natural aging, , too much sunlight or a bad .

The most common antioxidants that you will find in anti wrinkle creams are Vitamin C and E. Vitamin C encourages healing and stimulates the growth of new collagen. Several studies have shown that in high enough concentrations (20%) can reduce the signs of wrinkles, especially when combined with vitamin E. However Vitamin C is not easily absorbed topically so look for fat-soluble derivatives such as ascorbate tetrapalmitate, which help the healing Vitamin C penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin more efficiently.

Vitamin E helps the skin repair itself, protects it from harmful bacteria and also creates a moisture barrier so that the epidermis is less likely to dry out. Try to find an anti wrinkle cream with both.

Vitamin A is in a category all of its own. When combined with vitamins C and E in an anti-wrinkle cream it packs a triple punch of action. In creams, various other types of vitamin A are also employed - retinol (pure vitamin A), retinyl palmitate (also called pro-retinol A or pro-vitamin A), retinyl acetate and retinyl linoleate. Opinions vary about the effectiveness of each type. Some say retinol has much stronger. These forms of Vitamin A make the skin stronger as well as inspire the growth of new collagen.

Green Tea is one of the latest antioxidants to be added to skin care formulations and it has value as a free radical fighter as well as diuretic. It helps speeds toxins from the surface of the skin to the kidneys where they are eliminated.

Also look for creams that contain either alpha-hydroxy or beta-hydroxy acids. These mild acids help dead skin cells slough off more easily. In high enough concentrations they also act in the dermis by stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin fibers and (moisture-attracting molecules). This enables the skin to retain more water. These acids are thought to be especially effective when it comes to . However keep in mind, that like Retinol A, AHAs are known to ‘irritate’ the skin, which triggers a healing response and cell renewal. Some cells are thought to have only limited potential for renewal, and overuse of products containing AHA could do more harm than good in the long-term. So like all good things use anti wrinkle creams like this in moderation.

Some ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams have special purposes. For instance if your wrinkling skin is due to dryness then choose one that has biotin in it as that helps keep dry skin hydrated. Ceramides, derived from cow’s brains or pig’s brains can also help lubricate the surface of the skin. Glycerin, which is a by-product of soap manufacturing, can help attract moisture to the skin and retain it there so it looks more dewy. The same is true of Hyaluronic acid, which is made from rooster’s combs. Hyaluronic acid is a natural moisturizer that also helps attract moisture to the skin surface.

Other ingredients are also sometimes added to anti wrinkle ingredients to increase the efficiency of the main ingredients. Collagen and elastin may be added to a cream in the hopes that the skin will absorb it. Liposomes are a fatty substance that helps carry supplemental collagen elastin beneath the first layer of the skin where it can do some good.

For skin that looks dull or grey as the result of aging look for an anti wrinkle cream that contains provitamin B 5 or Vita Niacin. Both of these supplements have anti-inflammatory properties, encourage the growth of new skin cells and help to bring nutrient rich blood to the face to give it a fresher, pinker glow.

N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine And Health

November 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Health Care

What is N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine?

N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine is identified by a number of names and acronyms.

Called Chitin and acetylglucosamine, Glucosamine N-acetyl, NAG, or Poly-NAG, this amino sugar is the acetylated derivative of the amino sugar , the amino acid is connected with cartilage prostoglycans.

There are two sources of acetyl-; it comes from the exoskeletons of marine animals, and is also produced synthetically. NAG is important, no matter its source, for the human body.

Glucosamine is necessary for the synthesis (absorption) of glycoproteins, glycolipids, and (also called mucopolysaccharides).

Glucosamine does not affect the pharmakinetics–carbohydrate containing compounds–of glucose, insulin, or blood glucose levels. Pharmakinetics are that are found in the tendons, ligaments, cartilage, synovial fluid, mucous membranes, eyes, blood vessels, and heart valves.

Glucosamine is also a component of heparin and other bioactive substances, including heparin.

N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine Health Effects

NAG by stimulating the metabolism of chondrocytes in the articular cartilage cells, is beneficial in the treatment of osteoarthritis: it does this for synovial tissue cells as well.

NAG, by stopping or slowing down disorders like osteoarthritis, may have some disease-modifyng effects.

It does not however, have a direct affect on cycloxygenase that is responsible for anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Sufferers of inflammatory bowel disease, exhibit an NAG deficiency, which possibly reduces the synthesis of the gastric and intestinal mucosa’s protective cover.

This is because NAG is found in the exoskeleton of shellfish, it may cause reactions in. people who are allergic to them. And, although there are no known reports of its toxicity, use NAG cautiously, and only after consulting a physician.

Women who are pregnant or nursing should always consult with a doctor before starting any new supplementation.

While recommended daily dosage for NAG has not been set, we recommend, for safety, that you limit yourself to lower dosages.

Selecting an N-Acetylcysteine Product

Because nutritional supplement production, both in the U.S. and other countries, is largely unregulated, both governmental and private studies have shown that consumers of nutritional supplements have only a 1 in 5 chance of purchasing a supplement contain the amount of ingredients stated on the product label, or worse yet, a supplement that is not contaminated with health-impairing toxins.

We therefore advise consumers to buy health supplements from pharmaceutical GMP compliant facilities, which adhere to the world’s most exacting manufacturing standards. Doing as we suggest will ensure you of getting contaminant-free NAG, in the full amount for which you have paid.

The product we personally use called Total Balance, which contains N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine - natural-nutritional-health-supplement.com natural-nutritional-health-supplement.com is the best supplement we have come across. Glucosamine and Chondroitin For Joint Pain

July 2nd, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Benefits of Glucosamine Chrondroitin as a Dietary Supplement

In the medical world today, many diseases and disorders have no cure. Most
of the things offered by the medical world to diseases and disorders are
only just intervention. There are no exact things to reverse the whole body
function.

Most of the treatments provided and offered are only acts to lessen or avoid
the worsening of the diseases and disorders. Medical world still relies to
the traditional medicine that has been developed and innovated.

Alternatives are given to act as sources of necessary nutrition that is
needed by the body. They are the things that are used to supply the deficit
of the medicines that are available.

The medical world still relies on the natural products that are necessary to
our body. They still rely on vitamins and minerals that our body required.
They still rely on the chemicals that are produced by the external
environment and internal environment of the human’s body.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are two of the chemicals that are needed by the
body. The human body normally produces them but because of health problems,
the homeostasis is being impaired leading to disorders.

Glucosamine is a natural sugar produced by the body and found in some foods.
It is involved in the production, maintenance, and repair of the cartilage.
It is also found in the liver and kidneys. It can be synthesized for
commercial use from the crab, lobster, or shrimp shells.

Glucosamine is the one that stimulates the production of
and proteoglycans. They are essential building blocks of cartilage.

Chondroitin is a more complex molecule than . It is also a major
constituent of cartilage. It draws fluid into the tissue to give the
cartilage more elasticity and to slow breakdown by protecting it from
destructive enzymes.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are used to help fight osteoarthritis and joint
pains. Advocates say that supplements can jumpstart the
production within joints. The long lasting pain relief and functional
improvements are some of the benefits that are reported by the users of the
two chemical supplements. It is a result of the anti-inflammatory agents, an
increase in building activities, and a reduction in the enzymatic
destruction of the cartilage.

It is also believed that and chondroitin also reverse the
progression of damages in the joint. The rapid pain relief upon initiation
of and chondroitin supplement is a result of increased
production of hyaluronic acid, which is involved in the lubrication and
shock-absorption activities within joint fluids.

The -chondroitin supplement treatment is gaining popularity among
the consumers because of proof of its effectiveness in recent scientific
studies. There are evidences that glucopsamine and chondroitin help reduce
or eliminate osteoarthritic pain.

Some physicians and researchers speculate and believe that the supplements
may also offer similar benefits to the sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis,
ankylosing spondylitis, spinal disk degeneration, tendolitis, and bursitis
and physical injuries to joints.

Many advocates feel that and chondroitin supplements play a
pre-emptive role in eliminating the development of osteoarthritis.

The use of and chondroitin in combination may be synergistic.
More and more clinical trials have begun to support the benefits of
and chondroitin for overall joint health and resilience.

One recent study found that general immobility over time in both a placebo
group and the experimental group that was taking and
chondroitin. The result began to manifest quickly.

There have been too many scientific investigation, studies and researches
conducted in hopes to scientifically confirm the testimonies to the wonders
of and chondroitin supplements.

Traditionally, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are prescribed
to treat the symptoms of osteoarthritis. These potent drugs primarily masks
symptoms that causes stomach upset and even ulcer formation, as well as
damage to the liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.

In contrast, gluocosamine and chondroitin supplements have no serious side
effects causing only mild ingestion and headaches. Glucosamine and
chomndroitin do not work by prostaglandin inhibition. The continued use of
the supplements does not lead to progressive joint destruction

Glucosamine and chondroitin are labeld as food supplement, so therefore the
Food and Drug Administration do not regulate the amount and purity of these
two. Always consult health care provider before beginning supplement regimen
to ensure safety. .

DMAE Skin Creams - The Wrong Prescription for Wrinkles?

August 19th, 2006 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

A few years ago, DMAE or dimethylaminoethanol, became all the rage in the fight against skin wrinkling and sagging. Touted an “instant face lift”, the topical application of DMAE was said to tighten the skin almost immediately and offer long-lasting results with continued use.

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Universite Lavel’s Faculty School of Medicine and published in the British Journal of Dermatology reported findings that suggest you might want to forego the use of skin care products containing DMAE, as this compound has been found to cause adverse pathological reactions in skin cells known as fibroblasts, when applied directly to the skin.

Fibroblasts are those skin cells that are responsible for providing the structural framework of the skin giving it its strength and elasticity. They are responsible for producing collagen, reticular and elastic fibers, , and glycoproteins. They play a critical role in skin healing and repair thus keeping it firm and wrinkle-free.

In vitro tests utilizing concentrations of DMAE similar to those found in anti-wrinkle creams induced a rapid swelling of the vacuoles within the fibroblasts. The researchers also found that in the hours following the application of DMAE, there was a slowing down or complete cessation of cell division and an inhibition of specific metabolic reactions. Twenty-four hours after application the fibroblast death rate was above 25%.
The research seemed to indicate that it is the rapid swelling within the fibroblasts that causes the skin lifting effect of DMAE wrinkle creams.

Our skin is in a constant state of degradation and repair. Old, worn out components are constantly being replaced with new and healthy ones. As we age, the balance between the two becomes skewed toward tissue breakdown and the repair mechanisms are unable to “keep up” with it, unlike when we were younger. In order to deter the skin aging process, we have two options. We can do all that is necessary to prevent skin degradation, such as avoid environmental factors known to damage the skin and/or we can take measures to accelerate its repair by using skin care products that stimulate the fibroblasts to produce what is needed to prevent wrinkling and sagging.

The use of skin care products containing DMAE appears to do neither and may, in fact, contribute to the aging process. Not only does it result in damage to skin cells but it also kills the very cells that are responsible for renewing our skin to keep it from aging.

Of course, this is only one study, but if nothing else, it proves that further studies are needed to assess the efficacy and safety of topically applied DMAE.
