Human Behaviour and Depression

January 25th, 2012 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Each one of us has his or her own personality and several characteristics that we believe are unique to us, but human behavior is not controlled by our will. Behavioural programs that work automatically according to the stimuli that we receive from the environment are the primary controllers of human behavior. The human being is an animal and his rationale is not active most of the time. On the contrary, the majority of our decisions and actions are made based on these automatic behavioural programs rather than based on our own thoughts.

We have to also consider the existence of several characteristics in our psychic sphere that are peculiar to our psychological type. There are four psychological types which depend on the most developed of the four psychological function in each person’s psychic sphere—the four psychological functions are thoughts, feelings, , and intuitions. However, since each person’s attitude is either introverted or extroverted, the psychological types become 8—4 each of introverted and extroverted types.

The introverted types tend to judge everything according to their personal opinion while the extroverted types tend to accept the general opinion about reality. Their previous disposition affects their judgement, which is always one sided, since each type completely despises what the opposite type considers important. This way, neither one nor the other can perceive all the existing points of the objective reality or of the inner reality when they judge them.

The automatic behavioural programs decide on our behalf what we will do all the time, even though we think we are doing everything we do because we ourselves have decided to do so. We can’t really perceive that our reactions are automatic and we think that we can control our behaviour completely.

However, some stimuli can make us “lose our head” and without understanding how, we may get involved in very strange situations.

So, the strong stimuli and the automatic animal reaction combined with the one-sided vision of each psychological type and with the peculiar characteristics that determine their behaviour depending on which psychological function dominates them the most, are responsible for each person’s behaviour.

This way, what happens is that each person makes several mistakes, without understanding what they are really doing. They may even do several things that are completely in opposition to their character because they are dominated by the wild side of their conscience, where psychological functions that were not developed through consciousness remain.

The result is a suffocating feeling, an unbearable and unexplainable depression that intrigues very much the person that feels this way, because they can’t understand what is wrong.

Their psychic condition becomes worse with time and some day they feel so completely lost in a labyrinth of problems that cannot be ever solved that they think about committing suicide, as if this was the unique solution left for them.

Otherwise, they start taking treatment to cure their depression and their frustration increases because they realize that they are feeling worse instead of better, because their real problems remain unsolved…

This is when the free and safe psychotherapy through dream interpretation can save their life! Only the unconscious that resides inside the human psychic sphere is very well aware of the exact mistakes each person made and how they can be corrected.

The unconscious is a free doctor that sends us very helpful messages through our dreams everyday in order to help us overcome all the problems provoked by our wild nature. Dream decoding is the safest solution for desperate people, who cannot understand why they feel so sad and cannot bear their existence. It is a miraculous solution that can save anyone, no matter how awful they may feel and however impossible the solution for their problems may appear.

However, the unconscious is a very demanding doctor and its psychotherapy depends on the patient’s cooperation. This is not a magical way through which a human being can get rid of all his or her problems without doing anything, but a miracle he himself has to create, by exactly following the wise orientation received in dreams, even when the person doesn’t agree with the suffering through which one will have to pass in order to be cured. One has to change one’s behaviour and learn how to be calm and always wise. This is like a very delicate and dangerous surgical operation. Its success is guaranteed only if the patient exactly follows the doctor’s orientation.

During my studies, I came across Carl Jung’s method of deciphering dreams, which helped me and urged me to continue his research into the unknown regions of our psychical sphere. I set my poetry aside and began to compile my findings. I sought to prove that Jung had discovered the proper method of interpretation of dreams. This exercise actually taught me many things, and I continued to pursue Jung’s research into the analysis of dreams. Learn more at booksirecommend.com/ booksirecommend.com/

The Zen of Men’s Grooming

January 21st, 2012 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

We’ve all heard of the Zen of “x” or the Zen of “y”, and believe it or not the Zen of men’s grooming actually does exist! As men, we are not taught at any stage of our lives about grooming. Somehow we’re just supposed to magically figure out what to do when it comes to shaving, skin care, body hair trimming, hair maintenance, etc. It’s just fantastic to think that girls at a very early age, are playing with and watching (and learning) how mama cleans her skin every night. All boys are taught to do is wash their hands and brush their teeth before going to bed! When it comes to boys, maybe they see father shaving in the morning, but most likely they’re busy getting dressed and eating breakfast. Suddenly, puberty hits, the facial hair starts coming in, and the pimples start appearing. With no talk about such things from family or friends, and seeing how the media caters to teenage girls clearing their skin, what is a young man to do? Maybe, just maybe, the father will see that his son needs a shaving lesson and some help with clearing his skin. But I ask, are the fathers of the world teaching their sons how to shave, how to take care of their skin, how to look their best? I would like to say YES, but I fear that in most households that is NOT going on. Fathers of the world must start teaching their sons good grooming techniques so it’s not such a mystery. There’s more than throwing the football, playing video games etc., that can be shared between father and son.

Hopefully as an adult you’ve taken the time to find out how to take care of your grooming needs. You’ve learned how to get the perfect shave (whether it be a wet or electric shave); how to keep your skin looking great; in general, how to look your best.

Here comes the Zen part! When it comes to meditation, I like to practice and recommend Vipassana meditation. Vipassana meditation is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind. It is this observation-based, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves mental impurity (resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion). The most standard way of practicing is to simply observe the breath going in and out of your nose. Simply focus on the breath, observing the body . After even just a few minutes you can feel yourself become more focused and calm. You can also practice meditation when you walk by simply observing each step you take - the foot hitting the ground, the movement of the foot in each step, etc. Doing this brings you back to the “now”, calms the mind and focuses you.

This can also be practiced while you groom yourself. Yes, believe it or not you can meditate while you’re doing your grooming routine morning or night. Here’s an example of how you can bring zen into your shaving routine. The main point of this type of meditation is to observe your body during an activity. One way to do this is to slow down your movements. Be 100% aware of your arm as it picks up the razor. If you practice doing a wet shave, observe the movement of the arm soaking the razor in the warm water. Simply follow each step of your routine paying attention to the various movements of your body. Keep your attention as much as possible to the present moment. If your mind starts wandering about what you’re doing for dinner or what meeting you have to get to, simply return your attention to the present moment. Follow the of the blade as it glides across your face. Observe how your body is standing, what your hand is doing. Don’t judge anything. There’s no “right” way to do this. The key is to just observe the experience. You may even get a better shave since you’ll be more aware of what you’re doing! You can also do this when taking a shower, and even at night when your cleansing your skin. When cleansing your skin observe the sensation of the cleanser in your hand, the swirling sensation as you swirl it over your face, etc. It’s a wonderful habit to get into. The more you do it, the more focused and calmer you will be. The point of most meditation is to bring you to the present moment, keep you in the “now”. This is a wonderful way to stay in the present and give yourself the gift of a calmer life.

Prostate Problems - Symptoms Causing Concern

December 8th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Some blood in the urine… burning … or even inability to urinate… all relatively serious problems which might also implicate the prostate.

BLOOD IN THE URINE

Just a few drops of blood can make the urine held in your bladder turn a red color. We’re talking about haematuria. Don’t panic – there’s no danger – the presence of blood is more disturbing than dangerous. Drink a lot of water to rince it out then go and see your doctor.
Haematuria may be due to one of the following:

• simple congestion of the prostate
• a unirary infection inflaming the wall of the bladder and making it bleed
• stones in the bladder which are irritating the wall
• following some strenuous exercise

When the prostate is the cause, during urinating the blood will usually arive first followed by clearer urine. Such haematuria might occur from time to time and are not dangerous. However, if frequent, surgical intervention on the prostate might one day be required.

But note that, if you do have blood in the urine, it is of vital importance that its origin is determined. This will require a thorough urological examination including an ultrasound scan, intravenous pyelogram and fibrescopy of the bladder to determine or eliminate possible other causes (such as a bladder tumour or stones, or a kidney or ureteral tumor).

A BURNING SENSATION

If you feel a burning sensation while urinating, this is probably due to a urinary infection which is irritating the bladder or urethra. The burning is often accompanied by a frequent desire to urinate – up to a dozen times a night. However the urine flow will be week since the bladder hasn’t had time to refill. Occasionally the irritation will be so great that the bladder might bleed. You might also have a fever which can signify that bacteria have penetrated the prostate (with associated risk of septicemia).

Such a urinary infection is diagnosed by a urine analysis and is rapidy treated with antibiotics. For urinary infections with fever, the treatmant will last about three weeks.

ACUTE URINE RETENTION

You haven’t urinated for over 24 hours, the bladder is full, blocked; you want to urinate, but can’t; your lower abdomen is distended and painful to the touch. Yes, the bladder is capable of holding over a litre (2 pints) of urine! This is acute urine retention.

There’s no point in trying to force it or waiting. There’s only one thing to do: insert a probe into the urethra and empty the bladder. You’ll have immediate relief. Contact your own doctor or go immediately to your local hospital emergency department. The probe will remain in place for a few days to enable the bladder to relax. When it’s removed you’ll have about a 50% chance of returning to a normal urination frequency. But beware of any recurrence.

Acute urine retention can indicate prostate hypertrophy as yet undiagnosed due to the absence of other symptoms. It can also occur in someone undergoing prostate treatment, where it would indicate an evolution in the illness, and surgery might be necessary.

Once again, you should be aware of other factors which might lead to urine retention, such as taking certain cold and bronchial medicines, constipation, some anaesthetics, and excessive alcohol consummation.

So there you are. The above three problems are not uncommon, but they are often the cause of much undue worry for those suffering from them. Of course, they should all be reported immediately to your doctor and thoroughly investigated. But I hope that this short article will help to put your mind at rest and that in many cases, your problems might not be so severe or life-threatening as first imagined.

What is Acid Reflux?

December 3rd, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Commonly referred to as GERD or acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease is an uncomfortable condition where the liquid that is in a person’s stomach backs up or “refluxes” into the esophagus. Causing inflammation and damage to the esophagus lining in some patients, this can range from mild and uncomfortable to a very serious problem. Since this liquid is filled with both pepsin and acid and even bile, the reflux can cause pain and burning .

It is important to note that acid reflux is a chronic condition. Once a person starts suffering from acid reflux, they are usually plagued with the problem for life. After the esophagus heals via treatment, things may be going well. However, if treatment is stopped, the condition will more than likely return in a few months. For this reason, people suffering from acid reflux need to continue lifelong treatments.

Although many people are faced with the daily discomfort of acid reflux, few truly understand that everyone actually experiences reflux. Patients with GERD or acid reflux condition simply experience a reflux that has more acid. The acid also remains in their esophagus longer.

Reflux and acid can be harmful, but the body has a way of minimizing those affects. Usually, this occurs after eating when a person is sitting. The refluxed liquid usually follows the path of gravity and goes back into the stomach. We also have a habit of swallowing throughout the day. This also carries the liquid back into our stomachs. You may not even realize the fact that your saliva actually acts as a neutralizer for this acid.

Although acid reflux can affect almost anyone, there are instances where people are more likely to suffer from this problem. One of the best examples of this is during pregnancy. While many women experience “heartburn” or acid reflux during pregnancy, they often see a lessening of symptoms after delivery. The reason for the increased acid reflux problems during pregnancy can be explained by the fact that a fetus puts pressure on the abdomen. In addition, elevated pregnancy hormones often lower pressure in the esophagus, contributing to acid reflux. Other instances where people are more susceptible to acid reflux include patients with various diseases that affect the muscles in the esophagus.

Although acid reflux is a painful problem, there are treatment options available. There are both prescription remedies available as well as a variety of over the counter products that can help you to find relief from the pain and agitation of acid reflux. Just as abundant as medicinal remedies, there are a variety of natural remedies. One of the most recommended home remedies for acid reflux is cinnamon. If you are suffering from the pain of acid reflux, nibbling on a piece of cinnamon toast could be just the thing your body needs to alleviate your symptoms. Other home remedies include making a salad of Romaine lettuce.
